May 2010
While waitressing at a diner, I met an old couple who came in once a week, without fail.
They would sit on the same side of the booth and giggle like a couple of kids the entire time.
One day, I asked them what their secret was. The old man looked at his wife, back up at me, and said, “I like to hold her hand.”
Love that never ages GMH
It’s sad to see when someone who is supposed to be your sibling turns their back on you. It’s sad to see them take what you’ve given them, no matter what they’ve done to you, and take it for granted. So, if they cry, I’m the enemy because I actually stood my ground. When before, I was the one crying & why I was called a fat fuck all the time since a young age; yet, I was told to ‘man up’ about it. I took everything I dealt with since I was a little girl and turned it into strength. That’s what you’re supposed to do. And I did it mostly on my own. It wasn’t easy, but I’m happy I was able to do it. I don’t play the blame game like she does. I’m tired of crying & having someone easily give up on me. I don’t have it in me to scream at the top of my lungs, just to get the feeling out so I just cry. I’m a horrible liar so I can’t deny the fact that the sister bond barely exists anymore. I can’t act like it’s still there when I know that any minute, she could turn around and become two-faced. It’s a shame I can’t trust any of my siblings, but like I’ve said before, sometimes family isn’t really family & I’ve accepted that a long time ago.
I can’t keep being good to those who are terrible to me.
To put it simply, I don’t know how. I don’t think most people have mastered the art. But me, I’m exceptionally horrible at it. I’m not sure that I can think of a single relationship that I didn’t run into the ground trying to salvage. You know how the say it’s not over until the fat lady sings?…
